After missing out on several presses on Ebay, I ordered a refurbished Adana 8x5 last Sept from someone in the UK. Then the shenanigans began. I was supposed to get the press within a month and this did not happen, a catalogue of excuses ensued and promises of the press being sent etc etc. After an ultimatum at my end the press started to make its way from the UK to Australia.
A week of obsessive FedEx tracking later, it arrived on my doorstep! I rushed home last night from work, excited to see the press that I have been patiently waiting for. I moved it to its new home and was a little concerned that the box seemed a little worse for wear. I opened it and removed the poorly wrapped press to find that it had been badly damaged and it doesn't function as it should. In fact it does not function at all.

The photo above shows the rod which attaches to the rollers has also been bent. A little easier to fix.So for now I have to wait to see what FedEx will do regarding the damage, and hope that I can replace the damaged parts.
Sigh........

That's terrible! I've read a lot of horror stories about people receiving damaged presses that were improperly packed. I hope you get it sorted out!
am so sorry about your letterpress and also very jealous that you got one. I hope it gets sorted. I was surfing the net looking for inspiration for my lettering project at school, it needs some excitement injecting into it... and i thought ahhhh my good friend leslie's blog...see if she has any cool links.. hehe.. so here i am... whats the update on the letterpress??? (my uncle used to operate one in his early newspaper days)! bit of random info for you!
I had the same thing happen to my Adana press that I bought....the hook rod got bent during shipping. What did you do? Did you get it fixed? Thanks!
Hey there,sorry to hear your press was damaged too. I have not attempted to fix it just yet as I am still waiting to see what happens regarding a claim etc. If all else fails I will be buying spare parts from Caslon in the UK - the main suppliers of machines these days.
Where did you buy yours from if you don't mind me asking? Let me know how you go.
Hi Leslie, I totally forgot about this photo, this was taken so long time ago and my atelier isn't that clean anymore and I moved in another room... – I am sorry your press is damaged! You have exactly the same as me, it is a wonderful one. Fingers crossed that you'll get it to print. Sabrina
